Race Simulator - redux at RaceMyRace.com

Hi,

Following a contact on the Google Earth forums with respect to the F1 simulator I’ve been busy working on a more advanced “Race Simulator” utilising the GE Plugin - and it’s finally in a state where it can be released.

The new Simulator at RaceMyRace takes the Racer-Eye view concept but expands it to cover of a number of different race types - from Running, Bike and Nordic to name a few. We have a few races on there already and are adding new ones as and when we can.

(If you’re a Race Organiser and want your Race added please make contact via the site)

The Racer-Eye view puts you in the position of the selected racer as the race progresses but you can change to an Observer view to see more of course and the other racers present.

Each race has the previous years event with sector times for the winning racers and the next event with a Course Guide to go with. You can also enter your own sector times to include yourself.

You can change focus from one racer to another, speed up a slow down the simulator and jump to any point in the race. The paths are very accurate and have been smoothed so the animation is fluid. They also take into account any 3D models (bridges etc) that are along the course.

Lots to play around with and all the functionality is present to all. (There is a registration that allows all your settings and additional racers to be permanently saved but it isn’t necessary to use the Simulator - although we’d of course love you to sign up).

Here’s a shot from todays Great North Run as we approach the Tyne Bridge.

Hope you like it - it’s taken quite a while to get the engine going - and would welcome any comments. (I’m working on a better Help file but it’s fairly easy to get to grips with)
