5th week of Leg 5.
Pool A
Ajax Hamster Jam has the lead from the previous week but this one begins badly as crewman Freidel sails backwards on tack 1 and then falls over the side. Both Tramp Attack and A Team of Johnsons make a small effort to assist but were not close enough and
Ajax Hamster Jam has to spend an extra tack rescueing the goalkeeper.
This also gives Tramp Attack and A Team of Johnsons the opportunity to take to the front and A Team of Johnsons makes the best of it and was approaching the final waypoint ahead by the end of tack 5. Tramp Attack had closed the gap by the end of tack 7 but then disaster as crewman Gerrard came on watch and took the boat 600Nm to the north-east - around 90degs off course.
This took the pressure off A Team of Johnsons and they crossed the Boston finish on tack 9 to take the leg win - their second of the race. Congratulations to skipper tedbull and his crew 
ooo ahh! and a recovered Ajax Hamster Jam are neck and neck at the final waypoint but it’s ooo ahh! that has the advantage and finishes in 2nd on tack 12, followed by Ajax Hamster Jam a tack later in 3rd. ……………….. is the last boat to finish with a week to spare when he gets into port on tack 14.
Meanwhile the problems continued for Track Attack as he found the Nova Scotian coast on tack 12 in his attempts to make up for his earlier navigation errors - he was lying back in 11th place when the week ended.
Pool B
Diminutive Midgets began the week a the head of the pool and was never in any danger of losing that lead and came home on tack 3 for his first leg win. Well done to skipper Devious and his crew - a well earned week off for you all .
grob’s grasshoppers and atx1303 approached the final waypoint at the end of tack 7. They would have been joined by Robots in Disguise and Halfway up Virginia had they both not had crewman Gerrard on watch. Robots in Disguise went to the north-west and Halfway up Virginia north - only just managing to tack away from Newfoundland in time. However the relief onboard was short-lived as on tack 11 they too found themselves on the rocks of Nova Scotia.
Tack 11 and grob’s grasshoppers came into Boston to claim 2nd followed by atx1303 a tack later for 3rd.
Robots in Disguise also tried to make up lost ground by was another boat to find Nova Scotia on tack 12. Kelly’s Heroes came close by changed direction in time and found herself lying in 4th at the end of the week.
Halfway up Virginia wasn’t so lucky and ended the week agound for the second time.
Pool C
Atlético Tcf and Bullys Special Prize begin to week with little between them and this continues right to the finish with Atlético Tcf having the slight edge and ending the leg one tack ahead of Bullys Special Prize on tack 3. Congratulations to skipper TheCharltonFan and his crew for the leg win and 15 vital points .
LUFC 1963 and SuperSlaves approach the last waypoint at the end of tack 6 as Isaiah Forty:31 is another boat to suffer the Gerrard effect on the previous tack and head north and find the rocks of Newfoundland.
Tack 7 and it’s Green Peace and LANESRA who have the Liverpudlian at the wheel for as long as it takes them to make unplanned landfalls on the Nova Scotian coast.
Tack 8 and LUFC 1963 and SuperSlaves are still together as they pass the finish but it’s SuperSlaves who has the edge and picks up 12 points for 3rd.
Zuluwarriors is the last in this pool to put Gerrard on watch and the results are the same as for the others - he sets his course all wrong and does stop until they hit the coast of Newfoundland.
3 more boats do finish with a week in hand and they are hodol kutkut (tack 11 - 11 points), Vellus Arsefield (tack 12 - 10 points) and LANESRA (tack 14 - 9 points)
Pool D
Y’all be bad and Hoops! begin the week with little between them and it Hoops! who reaches the final marker 1st on tack 7. But the hopeless Gerrard takes the helm and takes Hoops! north and onto the rocks of the Maine coast.
This could be a costly mistake as by the time they restart both Y’all be bad and Cow Tipping Frogs had caught up and so it was still anyone’s race.
Tack 12 and Hoops! and Y’all be bad cross the line together but it’s the crew onboard Hoops! that celebrate their first leg win. Well done to Jonathan and his crew - close run thing that
Cow Tipping Frogs makes it into Boston on tack 14 for 3rd with the rest of the pool having one more week to get into port and pick up the remaining points.
