One of the shortest Legs of the Race sees the fleet leave Wellingtion and head for Sydney.
With only 2 Gameweeks making up this section the quick sprint could easily change the overall standings.
Pool A
Tack 6 and Chester Draws, Ardley Athletic, Bullys Special Prize and The Cooler King reach waypoint 1. Just short are No-Eye Deer and Y’all be bad. Y’all be bad wished he had made it as the his navigation now let him down and it wasn’t until tack 10 that he could aim for waypoint 2.
Also having trouble was Mid Table Struggler who got it all wrong on tack 8, running aground on the coast near Mount Taranaki, and once restarted had further problems with his compass. It wasn’t until tack 13 that he finally passed his target - leaving him at the back of the fleet when the week came to an end.
Meanwhile tack 10 and Kazma United had a slight lead - ahead of Ardley Athletic and Bullys Special Prize. Tack 11 and crewman Agbonlahor moved Bullys Special Prize to the front - a position he held until being becalmed for the final few tacks - tacks on which Ardley Athletic caught up and nudged ahead.
Pool B
Tack 5 and Zuluwarriors was in front and had the 1st waypoint in his sights - but then his week fell apart and it wasn’t until tack 11 that he could set course for Sydney. First after the first few tacks to last when the week came to and end - oh dear.
As for the remainer of the pool LANESRA had the lead on tack 7 - a lead he extended on the next tack - but a lead that was overhauled by LukesGiants on tack 10 and then Robots in Disguise took to the front on tack 11.
Lukes Giants quickly regained the top spot and kept it for the rest of the week - which finished with Robots in Disguise in 2nd and At it again in 3rd just ahead of LANESRA.
Pool C
A surprise for the fleet as Naked Pirates was first to make it to waypoint 1 on tack 5 - a lead he extended on the next tack. It wasn’t to last however as tack 7 saw crewman Lampard (with the assistance of points carried over from the previous tack) take Lythgoe’s Disciples to the front with Atlético Tcf in hot pursuit.
The Bare Bones struck out to the north in 3rd - a route that provided good winds as he took the lead on tack 9 where he stayed while the week progressed. Come the close The Bare Bones had the advantage ahead of Lythgoe’s Disciples in 2nd and The Drogs in third.
At the rear was A Smoked Cheese Pig who had made no ground during the last 4 tacks allowing the boats behind him on tack 11 to overtake.
Pool D
Again tack 5 saw the first boats pass waypoint 1 - this time being Honeyballs and Crazy Canucks. Equipe Chat’s Noir would have been 3rd but lost his way and didn’t cross wayline 1 until tack 9.
Crewmen Gerrard and Young launched A Team of Johnsons to the front by the end of tack 7 - with Roman Villa in 2nd. Tack 11 and a 3-way tie for 2nd had developed with Diminutive Midgets and Honeyballs joining Roman Villa.
By the close of the week A Team of Johnsons was in sight of the finish line with 2nd still shared by the previously mentioned threesome. Doomsday brought up the rear having not been able to catch any winds all week.
